Support for optical modules as FRU (PTX10002-36QDD, PTX10004, PTX10008, and PTX10016)—Optical modules operate as independent field-replaceable units (FRUs) and are monitored irrespective of the status of the Packet Forwarding Engine (PFE).The optical modules remain accessible in the hardware inventory even if the PFE is powered off. Ports and optical modules associated with a disabled PFE remain powered off and inactive, with their LED status reflecting this state. Changing port speed through the CLI does not affect powered-off ports.
Use the
show interfaces diagnostics opticscommand to view detailed diagnostics, including temperature, voltage, and power status, of optical modules. Theset chassis fpc pfe power offcommand manages state visibility and diagnostics for optical modules. This command also manages the operational state of the Packet Forwarding Engines. Theshow chassis hardwarecommand now displays optical modules associated with PFEs that are offline.[See , Understanding PIC Support for Optical Module as FRU, edit chassis fpc, show chassis hardware, show interfaces diagnostics optics.]
