About the Domain Templates Tab

To access this tab, click Observability > Health > Smart KPI Assistant> KPI Workspace > Domain Templates.

A domain refers to a specialized functional area within a network device that can be monitored for operational status and performance. Domain templates are configurations used to identify the domains of a particular device. Use this tab to view the list of domain templates, upload a new domain template, and download an existing domain template (in JSON format) from this tab. You can also filter the list of domain templates.

Common examples of domains include chassis, fan, BGP, and OSPF. Each domain can have one or more associated Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Since it is not feasible for the system to predefine and detect all possible domains—especially those that rely on specific device configuration hierarchies—users must have the flexibility to define new domains manually. This can be achieved through a Domain Template, which allows users to specify device configuration hierarchies that signal the presence of a particular domain.

Tasks You Can Perform

You can perform the following tasks from this tab:

  • View all domain templates.

  • Upload a domain template. For more information, see Upload a Domain Template.

  • Download a domain template. For more information, see Download a Domain Template.

  • You can also perform the following tasks on this page:

    • Sort, resize, or re-arrange columns in a table (grid).

    • Show or hide columns in the table or reset page preferences, using the vertical ellipsis menu.

    • Filter the data displayed in the table—Click the filter icon (funnel) and select whether you want to show or hide advanced filters. You can then add or remove filter criteria, save criteria as a filter, apply or clear filters, and so on. The filtered results are displayed on the same page.

Field Description

Template Name

The name of the domain template.

Note: All the system default domain template names start with the prefix “_system_”. Hence, you will not be able to use this prefix.

Domain Name

The name of the domain specified in the domain template.

Config Hierarchy

The configuration hierarchy specified in the domain template using which the domain name is identified.
