Active Assurance Workflow

Active Assurance enables you to set up and run on-demand verification tests using Test Agents. Test Agents are measurement points, which are deployed in your network. These Test Agents are capable of generating, receiving, and analyzing network traffic and therefore enable you to continuously view and monitor both real-time and aggregated result metrics

The following is the workflow for monitoring your network using Active Assurance:

  1. Install Routing Director. For information, see Routing Director Installation Guide.

  2. Log in to the Routing Director GUI. For information, see Administration Workflow.

  3. Onboard devices. For information, see Device Onboarding Workflow.

  4. Install Test Agent on physical or virtual infrastructure, including network devices or cloud-based virtual machine, so that you can manage them using Routing Director. For information, see Test Agents Overview and Install Test Agent Application.

  5. Create Tests and Monitors using Measurement Designer. For information, see Create a Test and Create a Monitor.

  6. Run Tests and Monitors that you have created based on your requirement to continuously monitor the key performance indicators (KPIs).

  7. View the results of streams and alerts generated.

  8. Analyze the metrics, identify the root cause of an issue (if any), and take necessary actions.
