What is a global account?
A global account allows you to access all your organizations across supported cloud applications through the Global Cloud Portal using a single login.
How do I create a global account?
Go to the Global Cloud Portal, click Create Account, verify your e-mail, and complete the registration. See, Create a Global Account.
What happens if I already have a local account?
If you create a global account using the same e-mail address as your local account, the accounts are automatically linked. Alternatively, you can also manually link your local account to a global account, see Link Local Account to Global Account.
Can I use different email addresses for local and global accounts?
No. The same e-mail address must be used for linking accounts.
Will my password remain the same after linking accounts?
No. Local and global accounts use separate passwords for security reasons. You will be prompted to set a new password for your global account during the account linking process.
What happens when I delete my global account?
Deleting your global account is a permanent action and you will lose access to the Global Cloud Portal. However, you can still access organizations through application-specific URLs using your local account.
Account Linking
- What does linking accounts mean?
- Why is there a Link to Global Account option in the local portal?
- Do I need to manually link accounts after creating a global account?
- Why am I redirected to the Global Cloud Portal when signing in through an application URL?
- Will my local account continue to work after global account integration?
What does linking accounts mean?
Linking associates your local and global accounts using the same e-mail address.
This enables centralized access to supported applications through the Global Cloud Portal.
Why is there a Link to Global Account option in the local portal?
This option simplifies global account creation by prepopulating your account information and linking your accounts automatically.
Do I need to manually link accounts after creating a global account?
No. If the same e-mail address is used for both accounts, linking occurs automatically.
Why am I redirected to the Global Cloud Portal when signing in through an application URL?
If your local and global accounts are linked, authentication is handled through the Global Cloud Portal to provide a unified sign in experience.
Will my local account continue to work after global account integration?
Yes, your local account will continue to function as it did previously. There is no change to the existing workflows to access an application.
However, once your local account is linked to a global account, any attempt to sign in through the local portal will automatically redirect you to the global portal for authentication. After successful sign-in, you will continue to access your authorized organizations and applications as usual.
Organization and Workspace Access
- Is the Global Cloud Portal required to access organizations?
- What happens if the Global Cloud Portal is temporarily unavailable during the redirect?
- Is multi-region organization support available for all applications?
- Why am I redirected to another portal when I click an organization?
- Why can't I see my organizations after logging into the Global Cloud Portal?
- What is a Workspace?
- Can I add users to the Workspace without a global account?
Is the Global Cloud Portal required to access organizations?
No. Using the Global Cloud Portal is optional. You can continue to access your organizations directly through application-specific portals using your local account. The Global Cloud Portal provides centralized access across supported applications through a global account.
However, once you link your local account to global account, logging in through an application-specific portal URL redirects you to the Global Cloud Portal for authentication.
What happens if the Global Cloud Portal is temporarily unavailable during the redirect?
If the Global Cloud Portal is unavailable, the redirect does not occur. You can continue to log in through the local portal using the standard local login flow. See, Access an Organization as an Existing User.
Is multi-region organization support available for all applications?
No. Currently, multi-region organization support in the Global Cloud Portal is available only for organizations created through the Mist portal. Organizations created in other supported applications can still be accessed through the Global Cloud Portal, but multi-region support is not available.
Why am I redirected to another portal when I click an organization?
The redirection is based on the preferred portal you configured for the organization. See, Set a Preferred Portal for an Organization.
Why can't I see my organizations after logging into the Global Cloud Portal?
Ensure that the local and global accounts use the same email address and verify that the accounts are linked. Once verified, trying logging in again.
What is a Workspace?
A workspace is used to manage SSO configuration, including domains, identity providers, and user access for the Global Cloud Portal.
Can I add users to the Workspace without a global account?
No. Users must have a global account.
