Downloading and Installing Junos Software Packages (FIPS Mode)

SRX Series devices can provide the security defined by Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) 140-3 Level 2 if these devices are operated in the Junos OS in FIPS mode. To operate in Junos OS in FIPS mode, the device must have the following software packages installed:

  • Junos OS for SRX1600, Release 23.4R1.

  • Junos FIPS mode, Release 23.4R1.

To install these software packages, perform the following tasks:

  1. Download the Junos OS package and the Junos FIPS mode package from https://www.juniper.net/. See Downloading Software.
  2. Install the Junos OS on your device using a TFTP server, see Installing Junos OS on SRX Series Devices from the Boot Loader Using a TFTP Server or install Junos OS on your device using the following CLI command: request vmhost software add /var/tmp/junos-vmhost-install-srxmr2-x86-64-23.4R1.10.tgz no-validate reboot request vmhost software add // no-validate reboot.
