PTX10002-60MR Ports and Interfaces

This topic describes the ports on the PTX10002-60MR and their corresponding Junos OS Evolved interfaces.

Interface Naming on the PTX10002-60MR

The ports on the PTX10002-60MR have interfaces associated with them in Junos OS Evolved. These interfaces follow the below naming convention:

type-fpc/pic/port:channel

  • type—Refers to the media type of the interface. For some interfaces, the media type depends on the transceiver plugged into the physical port.

    • et—25/40/100 GbE interface

  • fpc—Flexible PIC Concentrator.

  • pic—Physical Interface Card.

  • port—You can check the port number from the front panel.

  • channel—Only applicable to channelized interfaces. For all other interfaces, this option is absent.

QSFP28

Default speed will be 100G per port.

Using channelization and with a breakout cable a port can be split into multiple independent lower-speed logical ports:

  • 4 x 10 Gbps

  • 4 x 25 Gbps

    '
  • 2 x 50 Gbps

A port can run as a single 40G port. No breakout cables are involved. You can use a QSFP+ transceiver in place on the port.

A port can run as a single 10G port using the QSA adaptor.

Default speed will be 800G per port.

Using channelization and with a breakout cable a port can be split into multiple independent lower-speed logical ports:

  • 4 x 10 Gbps
  • 4 x 25 Gbps
  • 8 x 50 Gbps
  • 8 x 100 Gbps

  • 2 x 400 Gbps

  • 2 x 100 Gbps

  • 4 x 100 Gbps

  • 4 x 200 Gbps

  • 2 x 200 Gbps

A port can run as a single 100 Gbps port or 400 Gbps port. No breakout cables are involved. You can use a 100 Gbps QSFP28 transceiver on the port to support 100 Gbps speed. You can use a 400 Gbps QSFP112 transceiver on the port to support 400 Gbps.

Note:

To channelize ports, you must initially configure them to operate at the required speed. See Configure Port Speeds for Channelized Interfaces.

See the Hardware Compatibility Tool for a list of all the supported optics for the PTX10002-60MR.

Interfaces on the PTX10002-60MR

Each network port on the PTX10002-60MR has a unique interface associated with it on Junos OS Evolved.

The example below shows the actual hardware or transceivers plugged into a device and how Junos OS Evolved creates the corresponding interfaces. The output has been truncated to only show the relevant sections.
