Challenge

Elevating next-generation broadcasting services

Arirang TV's commitment to promoting South Korea's dynamic image and unique culture to a global audience of 146 million viewers in 108 countries requires a high-performance, reliable, and scalable network that supports continuous, uninterrupted broadcast operations across three channels.

In modern broadcast content production, outstanding computing performance and network efficiency are essential for supporting intensive video editing and layering processes. The critical nature of news production, which demands 24/7 readiness, further escalates the need for stable, reliable networking throughout the broadcast cycle.

Arirang TV had expanded its outreach and engagement with viewers globally by leveraging full HD satellite broadcasting, 4K video resolution on YouTube, and Smart Live Studio (SLS). But the expansion and need to support ongoing media innovations over-burdened its legacy network.

Arirang TV Challenge
Solution

Establishing optimized broadcasting operations

To maintain mindshare in the highly competitive media and entertainment industry, Arirang TV needed to modernize its network to support continuous news production and a new generation of broadcasting systems that are sensitive to video quality and latency. To address these demands, Arirang TV chose the Juniper AI-Native Networking Platform, which is purpose-built to enable end-to-end AIOps and assure exceptional operator and end user experiences.

Arirang TV deployed Juniper QFX10008 switches in an active-active configuration using Multichassis Link Aggregation (MC-LAG) groups to effectively double available throughput to 96Tbps. This setup has simplified the network architecture and made troubleshooting easier. The QFX10008 switches provide nanosecond-level latency and a large-capacity Q5 Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) buffer, which is ideal for broadcasting systems where any delay can be detrimental to user experiences.

To support a diverse array of broadcast equipment, including cameras, encoders, repeaters, and streaming services, Arirang TV introduced Juniper QFX5120 switches for delay-free connectivity for its core broadcasting systems. Juniper EX3400 and EX4300 switches provide stable connectivity between floors.

Outcome

Cementing its status as a global media platform

With the help of Juniper technology, Arirang TV has not only improved the performance and reliability of its network infrastructure, but it is now confident that network systems are performing their role more effectively thanks to AI-Native capabilities. Juniper switches have doubled the network capacity and strengthened security to provide uninterrupted connectivity to support broadcast and business operations.

Arirang TV plans to continue its network transformation journey with the Juniper AI-Native Networking Platform to ensure that every real-time connection to every corner of the world is reliable.

Overall, Arirang TV’s new network not only supports current business needs, it also provides plenty of room to scale as broadcasting needs change. Through it all, the Arirang TV team can concentrate on what matters most—refining and redefining what it means to be a global media platform covering everything from K-Pop to breaking news.
