ACX500 Universal Metro Router

The ACX500 is a family of small-form-factor, hardened, fanless routers that deliver up to 60-Gbps of throughput. They come with integrated software-enabled GPS receivers and support a rich set of security, timing, and synchronization features. The ACX500 routers have been certified for indoor and outdoor use for utilities and railways. They are ideal for small-cell, LTE-Advanced mobile backhaul deployments, as well as industrial environments.

The temperature-hardened ACX500 indoor model provides four copper 10/100/1000-Mbps ports and two fiber 1-Gbps ports, while the environmentally hardened ACX500-O and ACX500-O-PoE outdoor models provide three copper ports and three fiber ports. Both the ACX500 and the ACX500-O-PoE support Power over Ethernet Plus Plus (PoE++) with a power budget of 80 watts.

Key Features

  • GPS integration
  • 60-Gbps throughput
  • MEF CE 2.0-certified
  • PoE++

Features + Benefits

Security

Gain an extra layer of security with support for IPsec, Network Address Translation (NAT), and IEEE 802.1ae MACsec and provide access solely to allowed elements.

Timing and Synchronization

Deliver the highest quality of experience (QoE) with advanced clocking technologies including SyncE and IEEE 1588-2008.

Extensive L2/L3 Feature Support

Apply Junos OS-enabled support for IP/MPLS with traffic engineering, rich network and fault management, service monitoring, and operations, administration and management (OAM) capabilities.

Zero-Touch Deployment (ZTD)

Fast remote provisioning reduces operational costs and the demand on your resources while helping you accelerate the delivery of new services.

Power Over Ethernet

Easily power small cells and microwave systems with PoE++, which provides a power budget of 80 watts.

Hardened Design

The router supports both outdoor and industrial applications with an environmentally reinforced design and passive cooling.

RFC 2544 Benchmarking

Use RFC 2544-based testing to confirm whether a node is ready for service once configured with zero-touch deployment (ZTD).

Traffic Shaping

Apply hierarchical quality-of-service (HQoS) to shape traffic for each linear configured microwave link.

Junos OS SDK

Easily customize provisioning and integration with third-party apps and tools using the Junos OS SDK.

CUSTOMER SUCCESS

Jackson Electric Co-Op Sees 30% Work-from-Home Internet Surge

When the coronavirus crisis forced the shutdown of America, Jackson Electric Cooperative turned it up. Broadband Internet became a lifeline for the residents of Matagorda Bay, Texas, in the U.S., with miles of Gulf Coast beaches and fresh oysters, blue crab, and shrimp. Jackson Electric’s smart community network, built on a foundation of Juniper routing, easily handled a 30% surge in Internet traffic and a 130% spike in subscriber connections.

Cloud Metro

Apply cloud principles to metro networks to achieve sustainable business growth with future-proof performance, adaptive power innovation, embedded active assurance, and zero trust security.

State and Local Government

State and local governments have elevated their digital transformation priorities due to new challenges driving current events, such as constricted budgets and an unplanned distributed workforce.

Converged Industrial Edge

A growing number of single-purpose industrial and industrial IoT (IIoT) systems are converging onto Ethernet, IP, and MPLS. Juniper helps industrial companies meet system uptime and predictability service levels in the digital era.

Utilities

Electric, gas, and water utilities rely on operational technology (OT) networks to support industrial control systems (ICS) essential to their businesses. Juniper’s comprehensive portfolio of resilient hardware, pervasive security, and specific automation ensures that safety and reliability are never compromised.

Oil and Gas

Oil and gas companies, like other industrial verticals, face many challenges on the journey to digital transformation. Modernized networks must seamlessly enable new, business-impact applications from the remote, operational edge to the cloud.
