Cloud services with high performance, flexibility, and total control—that’s the promise of a new breed of providers. Packet is delivering bare-metal cloud services and innovating rapidly in the fast-moving cloud space.
Zachary Smith, CEO, Packet
Launched in 2014, Packet is delivering bare-metal cloud services to businesses that like the flexibility of the public cloud, but can’t compromise on control or risk multitenant platforms. Bare-metal cloud services appeal strongly to developers working with containerized workloads such as Docker and service providers that need very high performance.
The role of bare-metal computing has become more relevant for high-performance, scale-out, or container-driven workloads, but existing platforms aren’t automated enough for developers. With bare-metal servers, businesses can choose their preferred hypervisors, run natively on bare metal, or leverage container systems.
Packet chose MX960 3D Universal Edge Routers for the data center core. Packet uses low-latency, high-performance QFX5100 Switches and EX4300 Ethernet Switches for 10GbE and 1GbE top-of-rack switching, respectively. Juniper’s Virtual Chassis technology ensures high availability.
With Juniper at the core, Packet can deliver on the promise of the elastic cloud without introducing virtual overlay networks.
