Zito Media Selects Juniper Networks to Expand Services and Extend Reach into New Markets

SUNNYVALE, Calif., July 21, 2010 - Juniper Networks® (NYSE: JNPR) today announced Zito Media has selected Juniper's solutions to upgrade its network and develop a broadband infrastructure capable of serving underserved communities located in Zito's service areas of New York, northern Pennsylvania and western Ohio.

Zito selected Juniper Networks MX80 Universal Edge Routers powered by Junos® software to offer a multitude of advanced IP services, including VPLS, EPL, EVPL, IP transit and hosted VoIP solutions that provide easy management and cost savings for subscribers. The MX80 provides a unique solution that enables advanced MPLS/VPN functionality in a space-saving two rack unit form factor and will enable Zito to distribute video to cable markets.

"As we looked into upgrading our infrastructure to provide a multitude of advanced services, we needed a solution that would allow us to reach underserved communities," said Chad Gist, vice president of IP Networks, Zito Media. "Juniper's MX80 solution exceeded our expectations by offering a feature-rich platform at a very attractive price point."

Zito began the construction of this network through the interconnection of a number of small cable systems in rural Pennsylvania. Recently, Zito was awarded a federal grant by the Department of Commerce through its National Telecommunications and Information Administration's Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP). This funding will allow Zito to expand its offering from the fifteen communities it currently serves to an additional eighteen communities. The Juniper Networks MX80 enables Zito to scale a 10 Gigabit IP/MPLS backbone as subscriber demand rises and offer a full range of IP services including voice, video, and data services to residential customers as well as businesses, hospitals, schools, public safety agencies and other community organizations.

"Zito is focused on leveraging next-generation networking technology to meet its mission of reaching underserved markets with a bevy of world class services," said Mike Marcellin, vice president of product marketing, Juniper Networks. "The MX80 provides a scalable solution that will ensure quality of service that will scale to meet demand as well as new revenue opportunities."

The MX80 is part of Juniper's family of MX Series 3D Universal Edge Routers that enable the delivery of business, residential and mobile services at massive scale. The MX Series allow for network optimization for service providers and enterprises by speeding deployment of new services and reducing operational costs and complexity. Based on the Junos Trio chipset with revolutionary 3D Scaling technology, the MX 3D Universal Edge Routers enable quality of experience by processing two to four times more traffic than the competition - up to 2.6 terabits per second - while using half as much power per gigabit.

The MX80 was recently among the Best of Show Award winners at Interop Tokyo 2010. The MX80 received the grand prize in the Large Enterprise Networking Infrastructure category, maintaining Juniper's winning streak at the show stretching back to Interop Tokyo 2007.
