Juniper Networks Named as a "Top Ten Worldwide IT Security Software Vendor" and Recognized for IPv6 Compliance

HERNDON, Virginia, May 1, 2008 - Juniper Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: JNPR), the leader in high-performance networking, today announced its recognition by a leading analyst firm as one of the world's ten largest IT security software vendors, as measured by global revenue (CY2006). In its new report, A Government Perspective of the Worldwide Top 10 IT Security Vendors, Government Insights, an IDC company, analyzed the ten largest IT security software vendors across all industries, noting Juniper Networks security solutions and the company's growing presence within the U.S. federal government, state and local government, and international government markets.

The report notes Juniper's "broad family of certified network security solutions for enterprises, service providers, and government entities," including integrated firewall, IP security (IPSec) virtual private networks (VPN), and intrusion prevention systems and appliances, as well as secure sockets layer (SSL) VPNs and unified access control portfolios. IDC estimates that the worldwide IT security software market in 2006 was $18.7 billion, of which the government portion was nearly $1.8 billion, making it the third-largest market vertical after banking and discrete manufacturing.

In a related study, The Top 20 IPv6 Influencers Working with the U.S. Government, the analyst group also included Juniper in an overview of the top 20 "IPv6 Influencers" working with the U.S. government. This study also cites Juniper among a smaller subset of the top 20 IPv6 influencers "that are rising to the top in both security and the move to IPv6."

"Juniper's government-specific security offerings and their IPv6 ready 'out of the box' solutions, along with their continued focus on the U.S. federal government, help meet the expanding requirements of the government communications infrastructure," said Mark Kagan, research manager at Government Insights. As the report notes, Juniper solutions use the Internet as the alternative network backbone to enable network redundancy, so operations can continue even during catastrophic emergencies.

Juniper's high-performance, secure networking infrastructure and solutions portfolio is provided in partnership with the world's premier defense systems integrators to federal agencies deploying complex, mission-critical networks.
