Toronto Catholic District School Board Secures Web-Based Report Card System with Juniper Networks

High-Performance Security Infrastructure Provides Teachers with Efficient Remote Access to Report Cards

Toronto, February 12, 2008 - Juniper Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: JNPR), the leader in high-performance networking, today announced that the Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) has selected its best-in-class, secure remote access solution to provide teachers and school administrators fast, reliable and secure access to a Web-based report card system from remote locations. By deploying the Juniper Networks Secure Access (SA) SSL VPN 6000 appliance, the school board was able to increase operational efficiencies without compromise to application or network performance.

Until recently, teachers accessed report cards through an application running on an internal server. With a finite number of school-based PCs, 5,500 teachers and nearly 400 school administrators accessing the system, the school board determined it needed to build a high-performance Web-based report card application that would provide teachers with secure remote access and the freedom to fill out report cards for more than 90,000 students at their convenience.

"We wanted to provide teachers and administrative staff the ability to securely access TCDSB electronic services anytime, anywhere," said Keith Chung, senior manager of IT Security, Network Infrastructure and Services, TCDSB. "We turned to Juniper's SA SSL VPN solution to provide our teachers with fast, reliable and secure access to academic and curriculum applications. Juniper's solutions also have the capability to scan the security profile of home-based machines for up-to-date Windows patches, anti-virus signatures and other security software, which further enables our systems administrators to ensure the security of information assets."

The Juniper Networks SA 6000 SSL VPN appliances feature best-in-class security, performance and redundancy for organizations such as TCDSB that require high-volume secure access and authorization. The SA 6000 hardware platform, designed to scale to the largest enterprise deployments and optimize application delivery, provides end-to-end security to mobile employees without the need for client software on endpoints such as laptops, virtually eliminating client installation and support costs.

"We are seeing an increase of people accessing corporate networks with their home computers, which raises critical security concerns," said Tim Lambie, vice president, Americas International, Juniper Networks. "By investing in a high-performance network infrastructure that delivers fast, reliable and secure access to applications over a single network, TCDSB can expedite workforce productivity and strengthen customer loyalty without compromising operational efficiency."
