New Zealand Service Provider Upgrades Core with Juniper Networks Routers

TelstraClear Scales with M320 Multiservice Routing Platform

SUNNYVALE, Calif., October 11th, 2006 - Juniper Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: JNPR) today announced that TelstraClear, one of New Zealand's leading service providers, has upgraded its core network with Juniper Networks M320 Multiservice Routing Platforms. The M320 platforms expand on TelstraClear's earlier deployed M-series routers, doubling the service provider's core network performance from 160 to 320 gigabits per second (Gbps), and enabling them to continue to support growing demand.

"Because JUNOS is the operating system common to both platforms, we were able to smoothly migrate to the M320," said TelstraClear Manager of Planning and Design Peter Ambrose. "Our infrastructure operates close to 'Eight Nines' high availability and, by staying with the Juniper platform, we were able to scale to higher performance while maintaining superior network stability for our customers."

TelstraClear serves over 410,000 customers over its network, which carries high performance traffic including broadcast-quality IP-based video over its backbone. The upgrade paves the way for next-generation applications such as business-grade VoIP and VPN services.

Powered by the JUNOS operating system, Juniper Networks routers are recognized as the industry's leading platforms for sophisticated IP routing applications. They support the industry's most comprehensive VPN portfolio, combined with the ability to simultaneously support existing and emerging Layer 2 and Layer 3 services. Constructed with clean separation between the control plane, forwarding plane, and services plane, the M-series supports multiple services without compromise on a single platform-enhancing revenue opportunities and minimizing operational and capital costs.

"A strong core implementation lets service providers offer compelling solutions to their customers at the network edge," said Shaun Page, vice president of Australia and New Zealand for Juniper Networks. "By scaling with the M-series, TelstraClear retained its investment in JUNOS and scaled to meet New Zealand's market demand for next generation IP services."

According to IDC, Juniper Networks led New Zealand's Q2 2006 core routing market with 85 percent share by revenue.
