Juniper Networks Receives INTERNET TELEPHONY(R) Magazine's New "INTERNET TELEPHONY Excellence" Award for 2005

M-series Routing Platform Singled out for Delivering Solutions That Improve VoIP/IP Telephony

SUNNYVALE, Calif., October 13, 2005 - Juniper Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:JNPR - News) announced today that Technology Marketing Corporation (TMC)'s INTERNET TELEPHONY® magazine (www.itmag.com) has named Juniper Networks M-series multiservice edge routers as a recipient of an INTERNET TELEPHONY Excellence Award for 2005. INTERNET TELEPHONY magazine has been the VoIP Authority since 1998(TM).

Juniper Networks M-series routing platform was recognized for its role in Xspedius Communications' migration to a next generation IP Network. To introduce a new VoIP service with industry-leading quality and reliability, Xspedius replaced its existing ATM network with Juniper Networks M-series core and edge IP/MPLS platforms. After completing the migration, Xspedius' network backbone is more efficient and more capable of handling increasing bandwidth demands and higher speeds to support its Voice over IP services (VoIP) as well as new and existing data services.

"Delivering VoIP services places unique requirements on the underlying routing infrastructure and operating system, and together our M-series and JUNOS software feature the advanced capabilities to ensure high-quality, reliable VoIP," said Kim Perdikou, vice president and associate general manager, Infrastructure Products Group, Juniper Networks. "We're honored that the editors of INTERNET TELEPHONY have recognized the M-series as a key enabler of Xspedius' VoIP service."

"The editorial staff of INTERNET TELEPHONY magazine is proud to announce the winners of the first-ever INTERNET TELEPHONY Excellence Awards. These companies are as varied as there are products that fit under the IP telephony umbrella. But the one thing that binds them all together is that they all excel at delivering solutions that solve their customers' needs," indicated Rich Tehrani, Editor-in-Chief of INTERNET TELEPHONY.

"The VoIP space is hot these days, and it's easy to get caught up in the hype associated with such a buzzing marketplace. However, the winners of the first-ever INTERNET TELEPHONY Excellence Award are not merely "me-too" players. Juniper Networks has proven to the editors of INTERNET TELEPHONY that the M-series routing platform has excelled in the VoIP/IP Telephony industry, and most importantly, its customers are willing to speak up and offer themselves as references," said Greg Galitzine, Editorial Director of INTERNET TELEPHONY.

The INTERNET TELEPHONY Excellence Award winners for 2005 will be published in the October issue of INTERNET TELEPHONY magazine.
