iiNet Selects Juniper Networks Session Border Controllers for New VoIP Service

Leading Australian ISP Uses VF-series to Ensure Security, Performance and Seamless Deployment of VoIP Service

BOSTON, Sep. 19, 2005 - At the 2005 Fall VON Conference and Expo, Juniper Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: JNPR) today announced that iiNet Limited, a leading Australian Internet service provider (ISP), has deployed Juniper Networks VF-series session border controllers to enable its new iinetphone Voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) service. By resolving security, service assurance and address translation issues, Juniper Networks' VF-series session border controllers help ensure the integrity and reliability of iinetphone, simplify deployment, and minimize the need for additional equipment or changes to the network.

"The VF-series from Juniper Networks is a key component of our new VoIP offering," said Greg Bader, CTO with iiNet. "Juniper Networks' VF-series provides service assurance and security features, making iinetphone calls virtually indistinguishable from traditional calls sent over a copper network. With the VF-series, we can economically provide our customers with a full range of telephony features."

iinetphone is iiNet's new VoIP service that can be bundled with consumer and business broadband plans. The new service offers customers a separate phone line for VoIP calls and high clarity Internet-based calls at substantially lower rates.

The VF-series is a leading solution for hosted Network Address Translation (NAT) traversal, hosted VPN/VLAN and network protection for hosted IP telephony services such as Broadband VoIP, IP Centrex and managed IP PBX. Because the VF-series hosted applications require no additional equipment in the network or on the customer premise, service providers are able to rapidly upgrade their infrastructure with minimal effort. With over 100 service provider customers worldwide, the Juniper Networks award-winning VF-series is one of the most popular session border controllers for VoIP deployments.

iiNet is incorporating multiple VF-series session border controllers to provide advanced security features, service assurance, and hosted NAT traversal. As an additional layer of security to ensure the integrity of both the VoIP service and iiNet's existing services, iiNet is also using the VF-series' advanced security features, such as denial of service protection.

"iiNet is one of Australia's largest and most innovative ISPs," said Shaun Page, vice president of Australia and New Zealand for Juniper Networks. "By deploying our VF-series, iiNet is able to avoid many of the issues that can arise with VoIP rollouts, while at the same time assuring the security and performance of its new iinetphone service for customers."
