Info Security Products Guide Awards City of Burbank 'Best Deployment Scenario' Using Juniper Networks

Awarded For Juniper Networks Firewall and Intrusion Prevention Deployment

SUNNYVALE, Calif., August 9, 2005 - Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: JNPR) today announced that the City of Burbank has been awarded "Best Deployment Scenario - 2005" by the Info Security Products Guide, a publication that focuses on security-related case studies and deployment scenarios, for its installation of Juniper Networks firewall and intrusion prevention solutions. This prestigious award recognizes organizations with advanced, ground-breaking network security deployments.

The City of Burbank designed a secure solution utilizing both firewalls and intrusion detection and prevention (IDP) products from Juniper Networks, which gave it the ability to safely connect the city's local area network (LAN) to the independent supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) network. This safely allowed Internet access and remote data acquisition for the SCADA system for such activities as load forecasting.

"Juniper is a winner when it comes to deploying security solutions because of their strong commitment to staying customer focused," said Judy Shelton, group editor Silicon Valley Communications, the publisher of the Info Security Products Guide. "End-users all around the world want to see real deployment scenarios that can help them make better decisions on the type of security products and solutions they should be investing in. We are proud to present this prestigious award to Juniper Networks as not only have they proven that their security solutions work but also because their security product portfolio is geared towards their customer needs."

Perry Jarvis, network operations manager for the city of Burbank said, "We're very pleased we won this award. We chose the Juniper Networks solution based on the scalability and robustness of the products and as a result, our network is secure from intruders and attacks."
