STOU Upgrades Multiservice Network with Juniper Networks Routing Platforms

Leading Thailand University Deploying J- and M-series Routing Platforms to Reliably Support Voice and Video Traffic

SUNNYVALE, Calif., July 20, 2005 - Juniper Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: JNPR) today announced that Sukhothai Thammatirat Open University (STOU), a leading Thai state university, is upgrading its network infrastructure with Juniper Networks M-series Multiservice Edge Routers and J-Series Services Routers. STOU currently utilizes voice over IP (VoIP), and will expand their e-learning curriculum to enable streaming digital video of lectures and classes. Deployed in their central site and remote branch locations, the J- and M-series deliver the advanced quality of service (QoS) capabilities STOU requires to support these real-time applications.

"Our network needed to scale to support the increasing demand for reliable VoIP performance, as well as emerging real-time applications like streaming video," said Soonthon Wangmaung, head of the network operation center at STOU. "The Juniper Networks M- and J-series platforms delivered the QoS capabilities we required, enabling us to improve our students' learning experience with advanced network-based services such as streaming video access to lectures."

Juniper Networks J- and M-series routers use a modular system and JUNOS, a proven carrier class operating system, ensuring industry-leading reliability and performance to support latency sensitive real-time applications such as voice and video. JUNOS software delivers high performance with the flexibility to enable advanced routing, QoS, security, and management policies with predictable performance. The M-series delivers a high-performance, purpose built platform for the central site, and the J-series delivers a highly reliable and easily managed platform for the branch.

"As one of Thailand's leading universities, STOU is working to improve students' learning experience by delivering advanced services like VoIP and streaming video," said Isara Premthamakorn, Juniper Networks' country manager for Thailand. "Our J- and M-series enable STOU to support these services with high reliability and performance, and we are pleased to have been selected for their network upgrade."
