Juniper Networks IDP Systems Protect Customers Against New Microsoft Windows Vulnerabilities Disclosed Today

Dedicated Security Team Releases New Signatures Today

SUNNYVALE, Calif., April 12, 2005 - Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: JNPR) announces same day coverage for four critical and two important vulnerabilities announced today by Microsoft Corporation. Juniper Networks IDP are able to protect against the majority of today's Microsoft notices. Juniper Networks' dedicated security team will be releasing new signature updates to customers today that address these vulnerabilities.

Juniper Networks IDP systems, running operating code versions 3.0 and above, protect against the majority of these vulnerabilities, including three critical items which could allow for attackers to gain control of affected systems. They are as follows:

  • MS05-020 - Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer (890923)
  • MS05-021 - Vulnerability in Exchange Server Could Allow Arbitrary Code Execution (894549)
  • MS05-022 - Vulnerability in MSN Messenger Could Lead to Remote Code Execution.

The Juniper Networks IDP systems can also detect two of the important bulletins ranked by Microsoft, listed below:

  • MS05-016 - Vulnerability in Windows Shell that Could Allow Remote Code Execution (893086)
  • MS05-017 - Vulnerability in MSMQ Could Allow Code Execution (892944)

Additionally, Juniper Networks NetScreen firewall/VPN systems can protect against the critical vulnerability listed as MS05-019 - Vulnerabilities in TCP/IP Could Allow Remote Code Execution and Denial of Service.
