Juniper Networks SSL VPN Wins Network World's 2005 Best of the Tests Award

NetScreen-Secure Access 5000 SSL VPN Recognized For Outstanding Product and Unbeatable Value

SUNNYVALE, Calif., March 29, 2005 - Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: JNPR) today announced that its NetScreen-Secure Access 5000 SSL VPN appliance has won the 2005 Best of the Tests award in the Security Infrastructure category from Network World newsweekly.

Based on competitive lab testing, the Best of the Tests recognition from Network World distinguishes the Juniper Networks NetScreen-Secure Access 5000 SSL VPN as the leading security infrastructure solution for enabling secure access to applications and information - earning Network World's highest recommendation for enterprise deployment.

"The NetScreen device garnered the win based on high overall interoperability results, good access control mechanisms and outstanding application support," the Network World article stated. "The NetScreen-Secure Access 5000 offered a strong mix of application translation, terminal emulation, port forwarding and network extension and application layer gateway mechanisms to let users tap into a number of network programs over an SSL link."

"Juniper Networks is focused on delivering best-in-class solutions that enable a secure and assured network experience for our customers. We're thrilled that our SSL VPN is recognized by Network World as one of the leading security infrastructure solutions - this is a testament to the value we bring to our customers," said Vivian Ganitsky, director for the Juniper Networks Secure Access products.

Network World tested more than 260 products from more than 200 vendors. Forty-two stood out as top performers during rigorous, hands-on testing - in some cases lasting weeks or months - in one or more of their 13 Network World Lab Alliance partner facilities or in the lab run by Keith Shaw, senior editor of product testing for Network World. Network World grouped top products from disparate tests into eight categories based on the most critical network function the product addresses. Nine, including the Juniper Networks NetScreen-Secure Access 5000 SSL VPN, stood out as the cream of the crop, earning Network World's highest recommendation for deployment among the 42 finalists.

The Best of the Test winners were published on February 28, 2005 and can be found at: http://www.nwfusion.com/best/2005/022805tests4.html. The test results for which the NetScreen-Secure Access 5000 SSL VPN won its spot was published on January 12, 2004 and can be found at http://www.nwfusion.com/reviews/2004/0112rev.html.

The NetScreen-Secure Access SSL VPN appliances lead the market, with form factors and features tailored to meet the remote access, extranet, and intranet security needs of companies of all sizes. The use of SSL, the security protocol found in all standard Web browsers, eliminates the need for client-software deployment, changes to internal servers, and costly ongoing maintenance and desktop support. The NetScreen-Secure Access SSL VPN appliances combine the overall benefit of a lower total cost of ownership over traditional IPSec client solutions and software-based extranet/intranet security solutions and offer unique end-to-end security features.
