Juniper Networks Secures and Assures Network Infrastructure at Hallmark Canada

SUNNYVALE, Calif., March 8, 2005 - Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: JNPR) today announced that Hallmark Canada has deployed the Juniper Networks NetScreen firewall/virtual private network (VPN) and intrusion detection and prevention (IDP) solution to secure the company's network infrastructure and connect remote sites and workers to the corporate network. Hallmark Canada switched from an outsourced VPN service to an in-house firewall/VPN and IDP solution. The Juniper Networks security solution will provide Hallmark Canada with increased scalability as well as providing a secure and assured network experience.

The Juniper Networks NetScreen-IDP 10, located within the corporate network to provide security for the company's network infrastructure and serving as the perimeter security device, provides up to 20 Mbps throughput and operates in-line to accurately detect and drop malicious traffic in real-time before it reaches its victim.

"The Juniper Networks NetScreen-IDP 10 makes it easy to understand what you're up against," said Jean Khabouth, telecom analyst at Hallmark Canada. "It provides the IP address and name of each PC host involved in an attack and simply clicking on a report entry brings up a detailed explanation of what kind of attack it is. The Juniper Networks security devices have enabled us to take control over our network security without having to face the steep learning curve associated with other systems."

Located at Hallmark's Toronto office are Juniper Networks NetScreen-50s deployed in high availability (HA) mode. The NetScreen-50 appliance offers up to 170 Mbps of firewall and up to 50 Mbps of 3DES IPSec VPN performance.

Since deploying the Juniper Networks NetScreen firewall/VPN and IDP appliances, Hallmark Canada has seen many benefits including increased control over network security and heightened awareness of attacks against their system. They have improved communication within the Toronto office and have opened innovative channels for improving communication across the company's vast network of offices, distribution centers and retail outlets.
