Juniper Networks IDP System Wins Network Computing Editor's Choice Award

Rich Toolset and Strong Management Features Leads Competitors' Offerings

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Feb. 7, 2005 - Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: JNPR) today announced that its Intrusion Detection and Prevention (IDP) system was named Network Computing Editor's Choice award beating out eight other intrusion prevention systems. The results of the magazine's "Great IPS Test" were published recently.

"By balancing solid performance, ease of setup and rich functionality for drilling into attack details, the Juniper Networks IDP is the most flexible and powerful intrusion prevention system we tested," commented Curtis Franklin, Sr. editor at Network Computing. "Juniper's IDP system has the edge with the best facilities for writing custom signatures and a solid interface that lets security administrators quickly develop and deploy inline attack prevention."

The Great IPS Test specified that each IDP device must be a self-contained system capable of at least 400Mbps throughput and able to identify network attacks and prevent them through its own action, rather than by sending commands to a firewall or other piece of network infrastructure.

"Winning this Network Computing Editor's Choice award highlights our commitment to driving innovation in our intrusion detection and prevention products," said David Flynn, vice president of security products group, Juniper Networks. "Our customers appreciate that our rich functionality and feature set allows for comprehensive attack information, advanced attack protection and simplified management and that they can quickly and confidently deploy our devices in-line to increase security while enabling reduced administration effort and operating costs."
