Hanaro Telecom Deploys Juniper Networks Platforms for Premium Self-Provisioning Services

E-series Edge Routing Platform and SDX Enable Enhanced Subscriber-Managed Value-Added Services at Korean Service Provider

SUNNYVALE, Calif., January 5, 2005 - Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: JNPR) today announced that Hanaro Telecom, one of South Korea's leading telecommunications providers, has deployed the Juniper Networks E-series edge routing platform and SDX-300 Service Deployment System to enable an enhanced suite of per subscriber management broadband services. The deployment is the first phase of a complete plan to enable a wide range of new user-provisionable services including unified Web login authentication based on RADIUS and DHCP.

"The Juniper Networks solution enables us to launch additional value-added services to our three million existing broadband access subscribers," said Mr. Lee Young-Il, senior manager, Network Technology Unit, Hanaro Telecom. "We examined solutions from leading vendors and chose the E-series and the SDX based on the impressive feature set and our proven success with the E-series, which has been deployed in our network since 2001. The Juniper Networks solution gives our customers the ability to more easily provision and manage a wider variety of services themselves with flexible billing, ease of management and lower operational costs for us."

The SDX-300 Service Deployment System, designed to work in conjunction with the Juniper Networks range of routing platforms, enables service providers to rapidly create and deploy a portfolio of new, individualized revenue-generating services. The E-series features increased port density, performance, reliability and scale to enable service providers to deploy new revenue-generating broadband services with minimum operating expense.

"Flexible and reliable edge connectivity and the ability for users to individualize and enhance their services are cornerstones of the secure and assured online experience under the Infranet model of high-quality, high-performance publicly accessible networks," said Tim Kang, vice president of Korea for Juniper Networks. "In unison with our market-leading E-series platform, the SDX intelligently helps service providers extract a higher return from their invested infrastructure, while giving end users important control over their usage experience. Our market-leading broadband solution enables Hanaro Telecom to differentiate itself from commodity connectivity providers, while realizing additional revenue opportunity and lowering overhead expenses."
