Hydro One Telecom Delivers Mission-Critical Network Reliability to Canadian Customers with Juniper Networks

M-Series Enables New IP/MPLS VLAN-Based Network Architecture for Enhanced Service Delivery

SUNNYVALE, Calif., August 18, 2004 - Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: JNPR) today announced that Hydro One Telecom, Inc., an Ontario-based provider of broadband telecommunications services to carriers, large enterprises and Internet Service Providers (ISPs), has deployed its M-series routing platform to support enhanced broadband services such as transparent LAN services and high-speed Internet access. The new IP/MPLS-based network architecture has also improved Hydro One Telecom's network scalability and security and reduced operational expenses.

"We chose the M-series because it has proven to be a very good platform upon which to build our next-generation infrastructure," said Len Gross, vice president of engineering at Hydro One Telecom. "The M-series, with its support of MPLS VPNs, provides us with greater flexibility, scalability and security, while enabling us to deliver better services to our customers and meet the ever-growing needs of the province."

The M-series platforms are purpose-built to offer secure, scalable and reliable IP services for high-speed networks. The products reduce the time required to launch new IP services and simultaneously lower capital costs by simplifying operational support, as well as streamlining design, testing and network implementation processes at the network edge.

"Hydro One has built the foundation for an Infranet - an IP/MPLS-based network that is secure, reliable, can deliver high quality to multiple applications, and is inherently capable of scaling to meet the demands of emerging services," said Tim Lambie, vice president of sales, Americas International at Juniper Networks. "We are excited to be a key player in helping Hydro One Telecom realize its vision of delivering state-of-the-art, broadband telecommunications solutions for carriers, ISPs and large commercial customers."
