Neoteris Delivers Instant Secure Access to Benelux Enterprise for Ubiquitous Employee and Partner Extranet Access

Interplant NV Remote Architects and Landscapers Access Latest Project Information Through Neoteris’ Industry-Leading SSL VPNs

DIEGEM, Belgium - November 10, 2003 - Neoteris®, Inc., the leading Application Security Gateway vendor with more than 600 enterprise customers worldwide, today announced that Interplant NV, a leading Belgian company specializing in landscaping and road construction projects, has rolled out Neoteris’ Access Series™ to deliver secure remote access capabilities to its employees and partners. The cost-effective, easy-to-use secure access solution enables authorized remote users to access important resources on the Interplant NV network, such as intranet content, proprietary client-server architectural and landscape applications, CAD and email, through any Internet-enabled computer with a standard Web browser.

Due to its large volume of regionally dispersed contractors and partners, Interplant NV needed a secure access solution that enables clientless access in a more scaleable way than its IPSec Virtual Private Network (VPN), which limited remote access due to networking and connectivity issues. QConsulting, a leading Benelux region IT equipment reseller, recommended the Neoteris Access Series appliances to Interplant NV to enhance their network. As a result, Interplant NV deployed the Neoteris Access Series to yield a cost-effective solution for meeting secure connectivity needs between users based out of 40 different branch offices and building sites, and a growing number of home users. The Access Series leverages the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol, which is supported by standard Web browsers, to enable universal information access using only an Internet connection and a Web-enabled device, such as laptops, smartphones, home PCs, and Internet kiosks.

“The Neoteris Access appliances have given our employees, contractors and partners secure access to the information they need wherever they are, saving them considerable time that they can devote to their jobs,” said Freddy Verhuizen, Director at Interplant NV. “Our IPSec solution was great for secure connectivity to our offices, but it was limited in its deployment for remote access to individuals. With Neoteris Access appliances, we emailed instructions to our authorized users throughout Europe and they were up and running within minutes, securely accessing our network resources remotely. We’ve been able to collaborate online for restoration projects, landscape architecture and maintenance, and large garden ideas. We are now looking forward to rolling this out to all our customers with granular access to specific applications, so they too can get updates on our projects.”

This announcement is being made in conjunction with Neoteris’ launch today of Neoteris Benelux, a new sales and support office serving Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg. Benelux is the latest European region penetrated by Neoteris. Specific to Neoteris’ operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), in a year of existence the group has seen 100 percent revenue growth quarter over quarter; has established a large presence covering six distinct EMEA regions; has added more than 100 customers and has grown to more than 15 employees strong; and has signed on more than 25 reseller partners, such as Equip, one of Europe’s largest channel suppliers focused on security and networking, and managed service provider Sirocom, one of the UK’s leading global Virtual Network Operators (VNOs).

“We are seeing significant interest in our products and traction from unique organizations like Interplant NV, and we are pleased to be a key component in their initiative to roll out instant, secure access to its mobile workforce and customers,” said Paul Donovan, managing director of Neoteris EMEA Operations. “The Access Series appliances are the most secure and complete solution to the problem of providing secure remote access to information while reducing user and administration complexity. Interplant NV presents the perfect user case for Neoteris, with numerous remote partners and the need for telecommuting, because our Access Series provides the perfect tool to complete their network connectivity needs.”

Neoteris introduced a novel category of Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)-based secure access appliances in 2001 that changed the way employees and partners access corporate information. Through the Neoteris Access Series appliances, built upon the award-winning Neoteris Instant Virtual Extranet (IVE) platform, authorized users can gain secure remote access to network resources from any standard Web browser. As a result, users are no longer constrained to use specific machines or to work from designated locations; they can work from anywhere they can get an Internet connection and a Web browser. There is no need to install, configure, or maintain a client. Given the reduced support overhead implied, IT human and capital resources can be re-allocated to other areas. The Access appliances enable greater mobility and productivity for enterprises than ever before.

In addition to helping Interplant NV achieve universal secure access to information and applications, the Neoteris Access Series supports extremely granular access controls to the URL or file level, so only those with a legitimate authorized need to access resources can do so. The Access Series appliances also supports industry-leading authentication methods such as dual-factor solutions and client-side digital certificates, and audit/event reporting per user and per event, which makes it easy to track users’ activities. Unlike traditional access technologies such as IPSec VPNs, the SSL-based appliances require neither client device software deployments, nor changes to existing LAN infrastructure, reducing deployment time to a matter of hours.

Numerous independent authorities have recognized Neoteris’ SSL VPN category leadership. For 1H’03, Gartner, Inc., listed Neoteris in the Leader Quadrant in its SSL VPN Magic Quadrant report2, while Frost & Sullivan awarded Neoteris the Market Leadership Award for garnering the SSL VPN.
