KT Selects Juniper Networks for Business Broadband Network

Korea's Leading Service Provider Opts for M-series Routing Platform to Deliver New Metro Ethernet Services

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Sept. 18, 2003 - Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: JNPR) today announced its M-series routing platform has been selected by Korea's leading service provider, KT, for its new nationwide business broadband service. The M-series will be deployed as the primary platform to support the Metro Ethernet enterprise service in 14 major cities. The service is expected to be commercially available later this year.

"We've offered a very popular residential Metro Ethernet service, Megapass Ntopia, for the last two years," said Man-joon Ghil, senior manager of the engineering team for KT. "To support the expansion of Metro Ethernet to enterprise customers, we selected the Juniper Networks M-series for its high performance and strong feature set, including stable and rich MPLS L2 VPN and the Quality of Service (QoS) control necessary to meet the requirements of businesses."

Adam Judd, vice president Asia Pacific, Juniper Networks, said KT is at the forefront of the very rapid development of Metro Ethernet in Korea.

"KT is leading the world in transforming the Metro Ethernet business model by introducing the service control layer based on Juniper Networks M-series platforms. This is significant because the first generation Metro Ethernet, based entirely on Ethernet switches, had limited profitability and scalability. Juniper Networks is partnering with innovative service providers like KT to transform Metro Ethernet services into a service-rich and scalable model which delivers broadband services while ensuring the user experience," said Judd.

Juniper Networks M-series platform enables customers to achieve immediate density gains, reducing capital and operational expenses by running multiple services over the same high density, small footprint platforms. Additionally, the modular Physical Interface Card (PIC) design maximizes investment protection across M-series and T-series platforms and dramatically extends the lifespan of network infrastructure assets.
