Mexico Attorney General Securely Connects Worldwide Branch Offices with NetScreen

Sunnyvale, CA - August 4, 2003 - NetScreen Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: NSCN) today announced that Mexico’s Procuraduria General de la Republica (PGR), the Federal Attorney General office, has selected NetScreen’s integrated firewall and virtual private network (VPN) security solutions to secure its critical resources and establish secure connections among its globally dispersed offices, embassies and consulates located in Mexico and throughout the world.

The PGR has deployed NetScreen-204 appliances in each of its 194 field sites. Additionally, two NetScreen-208 appliances are configured in high availability mode at PGR’s primary operations center to provide firewall protection, serve as VPN concentrators and secure critical data resources. PGR also selected the NetScreen Global PRO management platform to ease deployment and maintenance of the NetScreen devices and PGR’s firewall and VPN security policies.

“The PGR responsibilities range from prosecuting federal crimes, combating drug trafficking and monitoring human rights, to law enforcement and global political coordination. As a result, we need to take rigorous measures to protect very sensitive information and our highly distributed network,” said Javier Carrillo, general services director for PGR. “We found after a long technical evaluation, NetScreen products provide us with the highest level of security needed to protect our assets. Further, NetScreen products have been easy to deploy and manage and are highly reliable.”

The PGR’s selection and deployment of NetScreen solutions throughout Mexico, South America, the USA, and Asia, completed in an aggressive three month period, has been the result of a team effort among NetScreen, Damovo, a global services company, offering advanced voice, data and mobility communication solutions, and Telefonica Data Mexico, a leading telecommunications infrastructure provider in Mexico.

“NetScreen’s integrated firewall and VPN security solutions offer government customers like PGR the performance, reliability, management features and cost benefits to easily secure and connect a highly dispersed and growing network,” said JoseLuis Sanchez, director of sales for NetScreen in Latin America (in LAM version of release) / David Flynn, vice president of marketing for NetScreen (in U.S. version of release).
