MUNICH, Germany and LIMA, Peru, March 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ - Siemens Information and Communication Networks (NYSE: SI) (IC Networks) today announced deployment of the Juniper Networks (Nasdaq: JNPR) E-series with the SDX-300 Service Deployment System (SDX) for the expansion of Telefónica del Peru's (TDP) IP network. The E-series will provide multiple functions for TDP including broadband aggregation and IP Transport. The SDX will be used in combination with the E-series to facilitate the nationwide deployment of IP-based services, such as Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) and Quality of Service (QoS).

TDP selected the E-series and the SDX to extend the functionality of their next generation ADSL network infrastructure. By opting for the E-series, TDP is broadening the capabilities of its network infrastructure to enable the successful roll-out of IP-based services for residential and business customers.

"The Juniper E-Series, along with Siemens' system integration capabilities, allows Telefónica del Peru to strengthen its network structure, thus increasing stability and scalability and enabling fast growth in terms of subscriber and service activation," says Miguel Osorio, TDP's director of network operations. "We plan to add additional nodes as international peering routers in the first quarter of this year with further expansion of the network by mid 2003," concluded Mr. Osorio.

"We chose Juniper Networks technology because of its superior flexibility that enables us to deploy broadband remote access server (BRAS) and Edge Routing services from a single platform with a high performance and availability, while the excellence of Siemens system integration and support ensures a highly reliable and stable network operation," says Rafael Pereira, TDP's director of network development.
