Leading HealthCare Services Provider Secures Network and Reduces Costs with NetScreen
Sunnyvale, CA - March 17, 2003 - NetScreen Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq: NSCN) today announced that Interim HealthCare Inc., America's largest provider of home healthcare and staffing services, has selected NetScreen's integrated network security solutions to establish secure, high-performance connections between its corporate headquarters' network in Sunrise, Fla., and its company-owned franchise sites and regional offices throughout the United States.
Interim HealthCare and its franchises provide care to nearly 43,000 people on any given day and manages an Internet-based communications network that provides its company-owned locations, regional offices and home healthcare workers access to critical applications for centralized job dispatch, billing, and daily payroll services. Previously, Interim employees accessed these applications leveraging a frame-relay based network and private dial-up connections that impaired productivity and caused the company to incur skyrocketing service costs. Additionally, as Interim expanded its network to include new regional offices and sites, deployment issues associated with the frame-relay network and providing redundant connections caused headaches for the company's IT representatives.
Interim replaced its frame-relay based network with NetScreen's integrated firewall and virtual private network (VPN) solutions, which can be easily deployed in nearly any network environment. NetScreen's integrated firewall and virtual private network (VPN) solutions enable Interim to leverage the Internet, instead of costly leased lines and often unreliable dial-up connections, to securely and reliably connect its offices and employees to its centralized business applications and email servers. As a result, Interim has benefited from reduced deployment and management hassles, increased productivity and reduced service costs.
The company has installed, in a redundant configuration at its primary data center, two NetScreen-208 devices, which provide high-performance firewall and VPN functionality, and denial of service protection. NetScreen-5XP or NetScreen-5XT integrated firewall and VPN appliances - ideally suited for remote offices with easy deployment and management features - are deployed in more than 30 remote locations throughout the United States.
Interim also uses NetScreen-Remote, a Windows-based VPN client, to provide secure dial-up remote access for field operations managers. The nationwide solution is centrally administered using the NetScreen-Global PRO security management platform.
Bob Diaz, IT operations director at Interim HealthCare commented, "The integrated security functionality, reliability and centralized management of NetScreen's comprehensive product line have addressed our critical security needs and contributed to increasing our overall productivity and cost savings."
