Ringgold Telephone Company Selects Juniper Networks to Provide Interactive Entertainment and Video Services

E-series Platform Provides Subscriber-Based Quality of Service Without Performance Compromise

Sunnyvale, CA - January 15, 2003 - Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: JNPR) today announced that Ringgold Telephone Company, a local exchange service provider in Georgia, USA, has deployed the Juniper Networks E-series to support interactive entertainment and video services over its Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) network. Ringgold selected the E-series platform for its ability to deliver highly granular, subscriber-based Quality of Service (QoS) without compromising performance.

The E-series platform integrates rich subscriber management capabilities with provider-class edge routing functionality and enables Ringgold to offer its customers high-speed connectivity with interactive digital video capabilities over a consolidated IP infrastructure. The flexible ASIC-based architecture of the E-series enables Ringgold to provide high-speed access and deliver high performance broadband services, such as video-on-demand and pay-per-view. Since a single E-series chassis can support many thousands of subscribers, Ringgold conserves point-of-presence (PoP) space, optimizing capital investments and reducing operational costs.

"We selected the Juniper Networks E-series because it enhances our network in this competitive marketplace, enabling us to offer our customers interactive entertainment, such as video over DSL, with our existing voice and Internet services," said Phil Erli, executive vice president, Ringgold Telephone Company. "We required a network infrastructure that can guarantee wire-speed performance, QoS, and low-latency to our existing services portfolio. The leading technology behind the E-series platform makes this possible."

"Ringgold's deployment of the E-series endorses the Model for Integrated Network Transformation (MINT)," said Kevin Dillon, director of Portfolio Marketing, Juniper Networks. "Guided by the MINT conceptual framework, Ringgold has created a service-rich infrastructure with the E-series that scales to increase capacity without requiring a commensurate increase in capital and operating expense."
