SingTel Deploys Juniper Networks M-series Routers in Internet Exchange Expansion

Routers to Support Customer Growth and Global IP Expansion for SingTel IX

Sunnyvale, CA - April 10, 2002 - Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: JNPR), a leading provider of trusted infrastructures for the New Public Network, and SingTel today announced the deployment of Juniper Networks M-series Internet routers in the SingTel IX network. This robust network buildout focuses on expanding global network capacity, and introducing new services for corporate and wholesale users based on Internet Protocol (IP).

SingTel IX, Asia's largest Internet Exchange, provides high-quality, reliable Internet connectivity within Asia Pacific, and to the rest of the world. SingTel IX selected Juniper Networks to provide a secure, reliable Internet infrastructure with edge scalability and a rich feature set in support of advanced IP services, such as global multiprotocol label switching (MPLS) virtual private networks (VPNs).

"We chose Juniper Networks to expand our global network capacity and coverage to enable us to provision value-added IP services such as MPLS VPNs for our growing customer base throughout the region," said Ong Lai Kuen, director, corporate product development at SingTel. "The Juniper Networks M-series routers ensure the stability and scalability of our network as we grow our business on IP."

The deployment of Juniper Networks M20 and M40 Internet routers addresses the IP services, speed and capacity demands from content providers, Internet Service Providers (ISPs), and corporate and wholesale users of the SingTel IX network. In addition, the Juniper Networks flexible, feature-rich IP solutions in the core and edge of the network enable SingTel IX to seamlessly introduce new IP services to meet customer growth targets. Integral to meeting these growth plans is the ability to use Juniper Networks products over the long term, and providing an optimal cost of ownership, with lower operational costs and longer life in production.

The initial network expansion will see Juniper Networks routers deployed throughout the SingTel IX network spanning Singapore to the United States at speeds up to OC-48. Further plans will see expansion throughout the Asia-Pacific region including Australia, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Japan. The stability and scalability of the Juniper Networks hardware and software includes third-party Operation Support System software.
