PSINet Selects Juniper Networks M40 Internet Backbone Router for Global Network
Mountain View, CA - January 12, 2000 - PSINet℠ Inc. (Nasdaq:PSIX), the Internet Super Carrier, has selected Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq:JNPR) next-generation IP infrastructure systems as part of the backbone technology for its worldwide network. Under the agreement, Juniper Networks will equip PSINet with M40 Internet backbone routers * to provide optical carrier speed of OC-48c Internet protocol (IP) routing for PSINet's frame-relay-based IP optimized network.
PSINet will deploy the M40 routing platform as a backbone and peering ** router, and will seamlessly evolve existing infrastructure to higher speeds and capacities capable of supporting the performance demands of Internet applications, including its expanding network of global Internet hosting centers.
