Business Challenge

To keep pace with increasing customer demands, the provider needed to reduce the operational load on its small engineering team and automate its network for greater efficiencies.

Technology Solution

Telehouse America used Ethernet VPN (EVPN) and Virtual Extensible LAN (VXLAN) technologies in the QFX5100 Switch to scale out its multitenant network and reduce the operational load. Now the engineers can interconnect multiple QFX5100 switches into a single logical device. And they’re using the Junos OS REST API to automate configuration changes and other network operations.

Business Results

A simpler network powered by Junos OS has enabled the engineers to be more responsive to business needs. Configuration changes that previously took up to half a day can now be done in 5 minutes. The engineers developed their own monitoring tool for the Junos OS API, lowering costs further.

“Junos OS is an operator-friendly network OS that enables staff who do not possess advanced technical skills to control the network relatively easily.”
Gregory Grant Manager of Operations, Telehouse America
