Reset User Password

A user with either an administrator role or a custom role that includes permissions to add users, view and edit user details, or remove users can also reset the passwords of other users within the organization.

The root-admin password can also be reset from the VM console using the reset local-user root-admin password command.

To reset a password from the UI:

  1. Click Admin > Users.
    The Users page is displayed.
  2. Select the user and click More > Reset Password.
The Reset Password overlay is displayed.
  3. Use the automatically generated password in the password text box, or enter a new password manually.
  4. Click the copy icon () to copy the password.
  5. Click OK to reset the password.
A success message is displayed. Share the password securely with the user. This password is temporary and will expire after 12 hours.
When the user logs in to Juniper Security Director for the first time with the reset password, the system prompts the user to change the password.

The user receives a notification seven days before their password expires.
