Deploy Configuration Templates
Ensure that you have administrator rights or privileges to deploy configurations on devices.
- Click Inventory > Configuration Templates.
-
Select the required configuration template and click Deploy to
Devices.
The Deploy <Template Name> on Devices page displays the list of devices on which the configuration template can be deployed.
-
To manually configure the parameters, perform the following steps:
-
Select the required devices, click Set
Parameters, and then click
Manually.
The Set Configuration Template Parameters page is displayed.
-
In the Configure tab, set the parameter values.
-
Configuration template deployment fails if any parameter value such as an interface name, VLAN ID, unit number, or IP address conflicts with the existing device configuration. Before you deploy, ensure each parameter value is unique and doesn't overlap with the current configuration on the device.
-
When configuring MNHA template parameters, the template framework does not validate device mode (routing vs switching vs hybrid), HA roles (active vs backup), and inter-chassis link (ICL) interface consistency. As a result, misconfiguration can lead to inconsistent MNHA states or discovery and grouping failures.
Ensure that all devices are configured in the same mode, HA roles are correctly assigned, and ICL interfaces are consistent across devices.
-
- Click Preview to view the configuration.
-
If the configuration is correct, click OK or
update the parameters as necessary.
A message confirming that the parameters are successfully set is displayed.
-
Select the required devices, click Set
Parameters, and then click
Manually.
-
To import configurations from a CSV file, perform the following steps:
- Select the required devices, click Set Parameters, and then click Bulk (using CSV).
- In the Import Parameters from CSV page, click Download Sample CSV to download the configuration template in CSV format.
- Update the file with the required parameters, click Browse and upload the file.
-
Click OK.
A success message stating that the parameters are successfully imported from the CSV file is displayed.
-
Optionally, select the required devices and click
Validate to validate the set parameters for the
devices.
A validation job is initiated and the job ID is displayed. You can view the job status on the Admin > Jobs page.
- Click Deploy.
- Optionally, in the Deploy to Devices page, click View configurations beside the device name to review the configurations.
-
Perform one of the following:
-
Click Run Now to deploy the configurations on the selected devices immediately.
-
Click Schedule Later to deploy the configurations later Enter the date (MM/DD/YYYY format) and time (HH:MM:SS 24-hour or AM/PM format) when you want the deployment to occur.
-
-
Click OK.
A deployment job is initiated, the job ID is displayed, and you are redirected to the Configuration Templates page. For each device, a separate task is triggered in the deployment job. You can click on the job ID to view the job status. Alternatively, you can view the job status on the Admin > Jobs page.
Note:The device deployment job might appear to fail if the configuration involves SSH service changes, but the deployment succeeds and the updates are committed.
