Recover from Corrupted Boot Disk

To recover after the boot disk has corrupted, you can run the fsck (file system consistency check) command, which checks the root file system automatically during boot time or when ran manually.
  1. The system automatically runs fsck on the boot disk every time it boots and tries to recover automatically.
If automatic recovery fails, the system drops to the recovery mode prompt.
  2. Run the fsck command at the recovery prompt.
  3. Enter Yes when prompted to confirm repairs for the detected errors.
  4. After the fsck process is complete, restart the VM from vSphere.
    The VM restarts successfully.
