Configure and Manage Routing Instance

A routing instance is a virtual path or network within a device that enables it to communicate with other networks or services. It enables SRX series Firewalls to indirectly connect to cloud services through a specific network path.

Use a custom routing instance for management operations to set up routing instances for different functions like outbound SSH, signature installation, image deployment and staging for SRX Series Firewalls in Juniper Security Director Cloud.

Configure a Routing Instance

To configure a routing instance for a device:

  1. Navigate to Inventory > Devices > Device Connectivity Settings > Routing Instance- Other Features

The page shows a list of devices with the routing instances.

Use the View by drop-down menu to sort the display. Select all, not configured (routing instance), or configured (routing instances) as required.

  2. Select the device to configure a routing instance and click the pencil icon at the top-right corner.

  3. Select the required value from the drop-down menu and click OK to save.

Manage a Routing Instance

To modify the routing instance for multiple devices:

  1. Select the devices configured with the same routing instances and click Edit Routing Instance. This operation is applicable for multiple devices with the same routing instance configuration.

  2. Select the required routing instance for all the selected devices from the drop down menu and click OK.
