Deploy Security Policies

You can deploy multiple security policies simultaneously. You can also choose to deploy policies on all devices or select the devices that need the policy update.

During policy deployment, Juniper Security Director Cloud retains the correct sequence of zone-based rules and global rules within and across the security policies.

Prerequisites

Before you deploy security policies, add rules to the policies.

To deploy security policies:

  1. Select Security > Security Policies.

The Security Policy page is displayed.

  2. Select the policies and click Deploy.

    The Deploy page is displayed.

  3. In Deployment Time options, select when to deploy the security policies.
    • Run Now to deploy the policies immediately.

    • Schedule at a later time and specify the date and time to deploy the policies.

  4. Select the devices to deploy the security policies in Group by.
    • All devices—All devices are selected by default. You can clear some devices before deploying. You cannot clear devices and deploy only selected devices if any policy selected for deployment is marked for deletion.

    • Devices not on latest policy—Devices that need the policy update are listed. Select the devices to deploy the policies. This option is disabled if any policy selected for deployment is marked for deletion.

Click View Configurations to view the device configurations before deploying the security policies.

  5. Click OK.

The deployment of the security policies is started, and a job is created. Click the job ID to go to the Jobs page and view the deployment status.

The deployment status of the security policies is determined by these scenarios:

Table 1: Deployment Status Scenarios
Deployment Status Scenario
Deploy Successful Security policy deployed successfully on all devices.
Deploy Failed Security policy failed to deploy on some devices.
Redeploy Required Security policy must be redeployed when the policy is modified.
Redeploy Required <no. of devices> unassigned Security policy needs to be redeployed on the devices unassigned from the policy.
