LDAP Authentication Overview

LDAP users can log in to Paragon Automation using their LDAP credentials. You can use Active Directory installed on Windows Server 2012 R2 and OpenLDAP version 2.4 for implementing LDAP in Paragon Automation Release 21.2.

A typical workflow of LDAP-based authentication involves the following steps.

  1. An LDAP administrator configures LDAP group in an external server and adds users to the LDAP group.

  2. The Admin creates user group for LDAP users in Paragon Automation and assigns roles to the created user group.

    Note:

    The Mapping Provider Group attribute should have the same value in Paragon Automation and the LDAP server.

  3. The admin configures LDAP settings in Paragon Automation. and maps the Paragon Automation user group to the LDAP user group; see Configure LDAP Settings.

When an LDAP user logs in to Paragon Automation, the LDAP server authenticates the user and Paragon Automation enforces access control on the LDAP user based on roles assigned for the LDAP user’s user group.
