Behavior Changes

Wi-Fi is Wi-Fi Again

Previously in the Mist UI, Wi-Fi was referred to as “WiFi”. Wi-Fi is now referred to as “Wi-Fi” throughout the UI.

Wi-Fi 7 Security Configuration

Wi-Fi 7 brings with it enhancements to Wi-Fi security.  These include:

  • GCMP256 cipher

  • WPA3-SAE with Group Dependent Hashing (GDH)

  • Beacon Protection

We have introduced a configuration option on the WLAN to control whether these Wi-Fi 7 security options are enabled or not.

There is a new option called Enable Wi-Fi 7 Security under the Security section in the WLAN configuration.  This option is visible when WPA3 or OWE security is selected. Wi-Fi 7 must also be enabled on the WLAN under Wi-Fi Protocols

Wi-Fi 7 security is supported on Wi-Fi 7 and Wi-Fi 6E APs from firmware version 0.15.34098 and higher.
