About this Document
When building any EVPN fabric, a WAN router must be integrated into the design. This requirement remains the same even when using a Mist-managed campus fabric, which simplifies and accelerates fabric deployment. After the campus fabric has been created, integrating the WAN router is a mandatory next step.
By design, the WAN router can be a Juniper Networks® MX Series Universal Router, a Juniper® Session Smart® Router, or a Juniper Networks® SRX Series Firewall. It can also be a router or firewall from a third-party vendor. This JVDE outlines several approaches for integrating a WAN router and describes the test cases used to validate proper operation. It also provides a list of required features that third-party WAN router vendors must support for successful integration. In addition, the appendix includes complete configuration examples using the Juniper Mist portal, along with configurations for the relevant Juniper routers and firewalls for reference.
