PTP TimeReceiver Port Performance Monitoring

TimeReceiver port performance monitoring is a mechanism for timeReceivers to report timing data and event timestamps, allowing external systems to assess synchronization accuracy and performance.

Overview

The Precision Time Protocol (PTP) timeReceiver port performance monitoring feature can be enabled on the member ports as per IEEE1588-2019 specification.

The PTP timeReceiver port performance monitoring feature:
  • supports 15mins and 24hours data collection of parameters defined in J.1 table of IEEE1588-2019 specification for only active PTP member port.
  • supports 15mins and 24hours data collection of parameters defined in J.3 table of IEEE1588-2019 specification for only active PTP member port with E2E delay mechanism.

Configuring PTP TimeReceiver Port Performance Monitoring

To configure the PTP timeReceiver port performance monitoring, the following configuration must be enabled:

Monitoring

  • You can view the configuration status using the show ptp global-information command (output trimmed for brevity):
  • Use show ptp performance-monitor status command to view the status of timeReceiver port performance monitoring:

  • Use show ptp performance-monitor measurement 15min index command to view the performance parameters for 15mins data collection. Index is an optional parameter and represents the nth index of data. The value ranges from 0 to 95, where 0 represents the latest data:

  • Use show ptp performance-monitor measurement 24h index command to view the performance parameters for 24h data collection. Index is an optional parameter and represents the nth index of data. The value ranges from 0 to 1, where 0 represents the latest data:
  • Use show ptp performance-monitor statistics 15min index command to view the performance statistics for 15mins data collection. Index is an optional parameter and represents the nth index of data. The value ranges from 0 to 95, where 0 represents the latest data:

  • Use show ptp performance-monitor statistics 24h index command to view the performance statistics for 24h data collection. Index is an optional parameter and represents the nth index of data. The value ranges from 0 to 1, where 0 represents the latest data:

  • Use clear ptp performance-monitor measurement all-counters and clear ptp performance-monitor statistics all-counters commands to clear the performance measurements and statistics.
