Platform and Infrastructure

  • Third-party SDK support for dual Routing Engine platforms (ACX7509, PTX10001-36MR, PTX10003, PTX10004, PTX10008, PTX10016, QFX5130-32CD, QFX5700, and QFX5220)—Starting in Junos OS Evolved Release 23.2R1, you can download and install the Junos OS Evolved third-party software development kit (SDK) to build and package signed third-party applications on dual Routing Engine platforms. You can download the SDK file from the Juniper Networks Downloads page for your device.

The Junos OS Evolved third-party SDK is a Debian package that you can install on Debian-based Linux distributions such as Ubuntu and Debian.

  • Bundle custom packages with applications and scripts (ACX7100-32C, ACX7509, ACX7024, PTX10001-36MR, PTX10003, PTX10004, PTX10008, PTX10016, QFX5130-32CD, QFX5700, and QFX5220)—Starting in Junos OS Evolved Release 23.2R1, you can bundle a Junos OS Evolved image together with custom applications and scripts to create a bundled optical disk image (ISO). Bundled ISO installation follows the standard Junos OS Evolved software upgrade process. Bundled ISO images help simplify the process of installing third-party applications and scripts.

  • Restart forwarding applications (PTX10001-36MR)—Starting in Junos OS Evolved 23.2R1, the forwarding applications evo-cda-bt and evo-aftmand-bt restart after failure instead of rebooting the system. This behavior makes the system more resilient to abnormal termination of these applications. When these forwarding applications restart, traffic forwarding stops until all applications are back to normal. To manually restart these applications if they ever leak memory or file handles, use the request system application application-name node nodename restart operational mode command.
