Software Installation and Upgrade

  • EVPN ZTP with RIFT (MX240, MX480, MX960, and vMX)—Starting in Junos OS Release 22.1R1, you can use EVPN zero-touch provisioning (ZTP) with Routing in Fat Trees (RIFT) to autoprovision an IP fabric with RIFT in the underlay and EVPN-VXLAN in the overlay. RIFT discovers the IP underlay and the roles of each device in your topology, and EVPN ZTP autoprovisions various EVPN-VXLAN default configurations.

Before you activate EVPN ZTP with RIFT, cable all your devices together in your topology, enable IPv4 and IPv6 on all of your interfaces, and activate RIFT.

To activate RIFT and EVPN ZTP:

Issue the request auto-evpn activate top-of-fabric command at the [edit protocols rift] hierarchy level to designate your route reflectors as top-of-fabric.

Issue the request auto-evpn activate command at the [edit protocols rift] hierarchy level on all of your other devices in the fabric.
