idle-timeout (System)

For root users:

For non-root users:


Configure the maximum time for which the C shell or CLI session can be idle. The root user is logged out of the CLI session after the expiry of idle-timeout and is logged out of the C shell after the expiry of another idle-timeout. For instance, if you configure idle-timeout as 5 minutes, the root user is logged out of the system after 10 minutes.


This config knob is applicable only for root user. To enable idle-timeout for non-root user, refer to Configure the Timeout Value for Idle Login Sessions.



Maximum idle time for root users before logout.

  • Range: 1 through 60 minutes

Maximum idle time out for non-root users before logout.

  • Range: Any configured minutes
