sFlow Agent Address Assignment

The sFlow collector uses the IP address of the sFlow agent to identify the source of exported sFlow data. You can configure this IP address explicitly to keep the agent ID constant across reboots and configuration changes.

If you do not specify an IP address for the agent, the device assigns one IP address automatically based on an internal priority of configured interfaces. When none of the higher‑priority interfaces are configured, the device selects the IP address of any available Layer 3 interface or the routed VLAN interface (RVI). At least one interface must be configured on the switch for an IP address to be selected automatically. An automatically assigned agent’s IP address is dynamic and can change when the device reboots.

You can also configure the IP address used as the source for sFlow datagrams explicitly. If you do not configure this address, the device uses the IP address of one of the configured Layer 3 interfaces (for example, Gigabit Ethernet interface, 10-Gigabit Ethernet interface, or RVI) as the source IP address.
