bandwidth-based-metrics

Syntax

Hierarchy Level

Description

Specify a set of bandwidth threshold values and associated metric values for an IS-IS interface or a group of interfaces configured under IS-IS interface-group. Depending on the combined bandwidth of the member interfaces, IS-IS advertises the specified metric value for the interface. When the cumulative bandwidth of an interface group changes, Junos OS automatically sets the interface metric to the value associated with the appropriate bandwidth threshold value. We recommend a maximum of 3 sets of bandwidth threshold values and associated metric values for easy interface management.

Note:

You must also configure a default static metric value for the interface or topology with the bandwidth-based-metric statement. Junos OS uses this value to calculate the cost of a route from the IS-IS interface or topology if the bandwidth for the interface is higher than any of the specified bandwidth threshold values. In case you have not configured the default static metric value IS-IS calculates the metric based on the reference-bandwidth.
