Syntax

Hierarchy Level

Description

Specify how long the addresses sent by the server in its router advertisement packets are valid. This time must be long enough so that another router advertisement packet is sent before the lifetime has expired. The lifetime value is placed in the advertisement lifetime field of the router advertisement packet. If this amount of time passes and the host has not received a router advertisement from the server, the router marks the advertised addresses as invalid.

  • Range: Three times the value set by the max-advertisement-interval statement through 2 hours, 30 minutes (9000 seconds)

  • Default: 1800 seconds (30 minutes, which is three times the default value for the max-advertisement-interval statement)
