Description
Specify to hold phantom IP addresses, that is, prevent these routes from being added to routing tables, for a specified period of time. During this hold-time interval, these routes are maintained in the kernel. After the hold time expires, the routes are added to the routing tables.
You use this option with the Graceful Routing Engine switchover (GRES) feature with nonstop routing (NSR). We strongly recommend that you configure this statement on switches in the QFX10000 line with redundant Routing Engines before you initiate a GRES operation. Doing so prevents traffic loss because routes are added to the routing tables after the hold-time interval expires, but before they are deleted from the kernel during a switchover.
This statement doesn't apply to QFX10002 switches because those devices don't have redundant Routing Engines and don't support GRES.

In an EVPN/VXLAN environment with NSR and GRES enabled, the recommended hold-time value is 300 (5 minutes)
