vlan-id (VLAN ID to Be Bound to a Logical Interface)

Syntax

Hierarchy Level

Description

For Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, and Aggregated Ethernet interfaces only, bind a 802.1Q VLAN tag ID to a logical interface.

Options

  • number—A valid VLAN identifier.

Range: For aggregated Ethernet, 4-port, 8-port, and 12-port Fast Ethernet PICs, and for management and internal Ethernet interfaces, 1 through 1023.

For 48-port Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet PICs, 1 through 4094.

VLAN ID 0 is reserved for tagging the priority of frames.

  • unmatched—To accept packets that are untagged or have a VLAN ID other than the VLAN IDs configured on the other interfaces on a port.

You can configure an interface to accept packets that are untagged or have a VLAN ID other than the VLAN IDs configured on the other interfaces on the port. For example, an interface configured with unmatched VLAN ID can be associated only with a bridge domain without a VLAN ID. Implicit VLAN maps normalisation is not allowed with the unmatched configuration.

The interface supports bridging, VPLS, and CCC encapsulation. The interface supports only service provider style bridging.

You must configure the interface family as ethernet-switching or ccc.

You must configure the port with flexible-ethernet-services or extended-vlan-bridge encapsulation to support the unmatched configuration.

If native VLAN ID is configured on the interface, that configuration would take precedence over the unmatched configuration; the untagged packets would be accepted by the interface that has the native VLAN ID configured.

In a port, there can be only one unmatched configuration.
