frame-pattern (Y.1564)

Syntax

Hierarchy Level

Description

Configure Y.1564 frame pattern for a service. This frame pattern is used to simulate a stream of service frames and provide the basis to measure and test a flow of traffic.

Default

Disabled

Options

emix letters

Specify a packet‑size distribution representative of Ethernet traffic, otherwise known as Ethernet mix (EMIX). This option is a combination of the letters 'abcdefghu', where each letter defines the size of frames in sending a sequence of testing frames. You can list up to 8 letters. We recommend that you set a pattern with increasing packet size. For example, emix bcdue, where u was previously configured at 1000 bytes using the size option.

With some configurations of NNI interfaces, you cannot run the test with a frame size less than 68 (include a in the emix statement). In such cases, we report an error when trying to run a test with frame size less than 68.

  • Default: none. We do not support the default mix mentioned in the Y.1564 standard.

  • Values (in bytes):

    • a – 64

    • b – 128

    • c – 256

    • d – 512

    • e – 1024

    • f – 1280

    • g – 1518

    • h – MTU

    • u – user-defined. You configure the value for this option using the option size above.

size number

Configure the frame size in bytes for the value u used in the emix option or configure the only frame size for the flow.

  • Range: from 64 to 65536
